Zaka Ashraf, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board management committee, is set to reveal the schedule for the ACC Asia Cup 2023 on Wednesday evening in Lahore. This announcement comes after a meeting between representatives of the Asian Cricket Council and the PCB, led by BCCI secretary Jay Shah.
In a previous media release, the PCB stated that they had a meeting with ACC officials to discuss the schedule, logistical arrangements, organizational preparations, and marketing campaigns for the Asia Cup 2023. The finalized schedule is expected to be announced this week, and the opening match is scheduled to take place in Pakistan. The PCB is excited to host the event and welcome cricket fans from around the world to experience Pakistan’s warm hospitality.
Earlier, on June 15, the ACC had announced that the Asia Cup 2023 would be played from August 31 to September 17. The PCB had proposed a hybrid model, with nine matches in Sri Lanka and four in Pakistan, which was accepted by the ACC. However, with Zaka Ashraf taking over from Najam Sethi, there were rumors that the PCB would request for more matches to be held in Pakistan.
Nevertheless, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal recently clarified that the distribution of matches between Pakistan and Sri Lanka under the 4-9 model for the 2023 Asia Cup remained unchanged. He also mentioned that the India-Pakistan matches would be held in Dambulla.
